How to Prepare for Your Brazilian Bikini Wax

For best results, the hair needs to be a quarter of an inch and 10 to 14 days of growth. This especially applies to first time clients who have been shaving. The worst possible thing you could do to your bikini line is wax too soon after shaving. Stubble is awful to take up if it is too short. This is why we ask for the appropriate amount of time for re-growth.

Come to your appointment relaxed. Being anxious about the Brazilian Bikini Wax can definitely contribute to it being more painful. Some people believe that Advil or Motrin helps them before a Brazilian Wax, although there is no real evidence that this is true. We do believe that if you prepare yourself mentally, it won’t be as bad as what you have been led to believe. If at any time you are too uncomfortable to endure the wax, you must let your technician know. Nobody will force you to do this. It’s your body! However, the results definitely outweigh a little bit of discomfort.

WHY SHOULD I SPRAY TAN?

Spray tanning gives you a beautiful natural-looking California tan without the long-term skin damage associated with UV exposure. Different than the Mystic booth spray tan, this tan is not the same and won’t leave drips or streaks. A fine mist is evenly applied over the body by a certified tanning technician who will be sure all areas are sprayed evenly, leaving your body with a nice, even tan.

HOW DO SPRAY TANS WORK?

Our spray tan solution contains dihydroxyacetone, otherwise known as DHA, which is a colorless chemical that darkens just the outer layer of skin and has no effect on your melanin or the production of it. Working with the protein in the uppermost layers of the skin, DHA essentially ‘stains’ the skin to create a golden brown glow.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY SPRAY TAN?

Be sure to shower and exfoliate before your appointment and please come in without lotion, deodorant, or foundation makeup. Also, shave the day of using soap and water. Do not use shaving cream or Dove soap as they contain Lanolin, which can block your tan from developing to the fullest. If you wax please try to wax one to two days before your spray tan to avoid the formula from getting into your pores.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR DURING MY TANNING APPOINTMENT?

Please wear dark loose fitting clothing & sandals to the appointment so the color doesn’t rub off onto any of your lighter clothes. During the appointment, many clients prefer to go nude, however you should wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. You may bring your own bottoms or a bathing suit

HOW LONG DOES THE TAN LAST & HOW DO I MAKE IT LAST LONGER?

After your tanning session wait at least six to 12 hours before showering. After showering, apply a moisturizer, as hydrated skin retains the tan longer. The tan will last anywhere from five to six days, depending on how you care for your skin.

You can keep your tan longer by AVOIDING long, hot showers, mineral oil based lotions, excessive exfoliation, swimming in chlorine bleach pools, and the beach, as salt water acts as an exfoliate. People who work out a lot and therefore shower more often will not keep their tans AS LONG as most.

WILL IT PROTECT MY SKIN IF I GO OUTSIDE?

NO! You still need to use an SPF when outside & in direct sunlight.
